Physical Characteristics:

• Always has a hybrid mask/eyepatch over his right eye. It has a hole for him to see through and covers roughly 1/4 of his face.

• An elaborate, heart-shaped tattoo peeks out from the base of his neck, between his shoulders, should one bother enough to look.

• A second, smaller tattoo rests on the back of his left wrist. It's solid black and in the shape of a spade. It peeks out from beneath his sleeves every so often.

• A third tattoo rests on his right arm, the shape of a red diamond seen on the underside of his forearm.

• A fourth tatoo, a black club, rests just beneath his navel.

• Usually seen with a greatsword strapped to his back, a warhammer on his belt, and a buckler on his left forearm.

• Tends to wear scale armor as though it were clothing. It's rare to see him without some measure of protection.

Physical Description:

• Stands roughly 6'2"

• Muscular, tone, overall very good physical condition

• Hair is a shockingly unnatural looking blood-red

• Right Eye: Blue

• Left Eye: Green

• Facial hair is kept neat and trim, little more than stubble, usually.

• Slightly pointed, elongated ears.

• Eyes are shaped like a hybrid of large, angled elven eyes and round human eyes

History:

Born and raised in Golarion's capital, Absolom, Balta lead a normal life; well... as normal as normal gets for a half-breed street urchin. He spent his younger years as an unwanted child, begging and stealing for all that he had. Wits and quick thinking were all that kept the young half-elf alive. Such harsh conditions did, however, nurture and strengthen the growing lad into a formidable survivalist.

In his younger adult years, he grew to a size unknown to a good many of his kinsman. Large, powerful, smart, work was always easy to find. It wasn't until his seventeenth or eighteenth year of life that he found a stable means of income.

The Crimson Court, one of the more wealthy gambling dens hidden away amidst the busy, bustling streets of the Port City. In its halls, all manner of traverls found drinks, games, pleasurable company; entertainment of all sorts. The Court was just as much a house of earthly delights as it was a place of worship. Callistria's influence was felt in every corner and crevice, served by the illustrious Crimson Queen. The Queen was a unique woman whose wiles and influence are the stuff of legend.

A place of such renown often requires hired muscle. Bouncers, enforcers, collectors. Every role suited Balta. In time, he earned a reputation as a horrible force of reckoning; The Queen's right hand. Known as the Crimson Knave, he carried out her will to the letter. And for the most part, his career left him unscathed. That is until the visit of the late Professor Petros Lorrimor.

An innocent visit, a night of drinking and a failed assassination attempt left the brothel with a half-blind bouncer and a very dead, would-be assassin. A misfired spell scarred Balta's face from brow to cheek, his right eye all but destroyed. Life spared at such a great cost to another, it was all Professor Lorrimor could do to include his half-elven savior in his will.

Personality:

• An odd mixture of introvert and extrovert. At times very sociable, at others, very tight lipped and sullen.

• Overall he appears fairly full of himself, but he's not genuinely narcissistic.

"You know, it never ceases to amaze me just how frequently people are shocked that they've been double-crossed by a man who openly refers to himself as 'The Knave'."
